Program

Medical Career & Technical College Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and also recognized as an approved program with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) allowing its graduates to sit for certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) (AAMA), considered by the profession to be the “gold standard” in medical assisting education. Graduates are also eligible to sit for the RMA exam provided by the American Medical Technologist organization.

Would you like to earn your phlebotomy certification? This program allows for our graduates to become certified as a phlebotomist!

Class Modules

Classes are taught in a subject-focused curriculum where the student takes only 1 course at a time and attends just 2 days per week. The classes meet from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday depending on the class schedule for that term.

  • Medical Laboratory Procedures – 84 Clock Hours
  • Clinical Assistant II – 84 Clock Hours
  • Medical Assistant Externship – 240 Clock Hours

Medical Assistants are an essential component to physicians, physician’s assistants, and nurse-practitioners in the day to day clinical and administrative duties that occur in the medical office including taking vital signs, rooming patients, drawing blood, performing laboratory procedures, EKGs, sterilization of instruments, administration of medications and immunizations, providing patient education, and completion of insurance functions such as billing and coding. Job opportunities are abundant for the educated and credentialed medical assistant!
