Program

The Medical Career & Technical College Medical Massage Therapy Program is approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for MassageTherapy.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for licensure through the MBLEx (Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam) and credentialed as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).

Classes

Classes are taught in a subject-focused curriculum where the student takes only 1 course at a time and attends just 2 days per week. The classes meet from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday depending on the class schedule for that term.

FAST TRACK Option

Program Length: 26 Weeks (Attend Class 4 Days a Week)

  • Medical Terminology & Anatomy/Physiology – 84 Contact Hours
  • Pathology for Massage Therapists – 84 Contact Hours
  • Kinesiology I with Modalities – 84 Contact Hours
  • Kinesiology II with Modalities – 84 Contact Hours
  • Massage Therapy Foundations & Fundamentals – 84 Contact Hours
  • Applications & Practice for the Massage Therapist – 84 Contact Hours
  • Massage Therapy Business Practice – 96 Contact Hours

Massage Therapists employ a variety of knowledge and skills  to provide relaxation, comfort, and promote healing using a variety of techniques and modalities for clients in a variety of settings including spas, cruise lines, sports medicine, chiropractor offices, hospitals including labor and delivery, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedic units, health & fitness facilities, or as your own business entrepreneur!  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for massage therapists is expected to increase by 22% nationally through 2028; making it one of the fastest-growing professions, therefore adding medical modalities further increases marketability!

Student Medical Massage Clinic

Experience the benefits of massage by booking an appointment in our student-led massage clinic! 1-hour massages are performed by students for only $35. The students receive hands-on experience and the public receive discounted massages performed by students that are monitored by Licensed Massage Therapists. Please respect that our students may be from diverse backgrounds and your appointment may be with a male or a female. We cannot control who your student therapist may be. Appointments can be booked at either our Lexington or Richmond locations!
